Carolyn Shoemaker, city planner, presented a three-variance request for 2990 Aurelius Drive on a riparian lot: reducing the front-yard setback for an accessory garage, addressing impervious-surface impacts using pervious pavers, and reconciling nonconforming lot width. The staff report said approval is appropriate with updated plans and pervious-paver certification; staff estimated that using approved pavers would reduce effective impervious impact to about 21.4% in one calculation.
Homeowner Matthew Tutu told the commission he recently purchased the property and said the deck and some concrete are failing and must be repaired; he said he would not pursue a bedroom expansion and expected to keep the deck footprint roughly the same, which may alter variance needs. Commissioners recommended approval with the condition that applicants submit updated site plans and pervious-paver certification at permit review. Commissioner (speaker 9) moved for approval and the motion passed on a voice vote; the recommendation will be forwarded to council for final action.
