Council approves Spud's convenience store site and schedules SEPA hearings for development projects

The Royal City Council on June 2 adopted Resolution 26-02 to allow the building and development of “Spuds Convenience Store and Gas Station” on unplatted lands (m/s Garcia/Rodriguez). Planner Alex Kovach explained the need for the resolution and the council discussed whether a sidewalk should be required along the north side of the site before voting to adopt the measure.
Spud Brown, who spoke earlier in public comment about selling the old library site to Harvest Foods, also explained the rationale for a larger gas station in the community. Planning staff told the council that SEPA hearings for Spud's Gas Station and another proposal, Pratt Hills Phase 2, are scheduled for later in June.
