IT director outlines cybersecurity and infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations and phone consolidation

Brian Lum presented the IT annual report and described completed and ongoing technology initiatives: privileged‑access management (PAM) implementation, SD‑WAN for redundant internet links, consolidation from multiple phone systems to one vendor, interfaces with external EHRs, and migrations to cloud and SharePoint. "We implemented our PAM security system that protects our elevated security passwords and users," Lum said, adding that the organization now has three Internet connections for resiliency.
Lum listed near‑term projects: a FujiPAX disaster‑relief environment, Windows 11 upgrades, migration of file systems to SharePoint, department dashboards, and a multi‑quarter migration of roughly 80 servers. He said the team is also evaluating deeper integration with UCSF's IT environment and working on walkie‑talkie/paging improvements and cellular coverage for the hospital.
