County authorizes RFP for new Public Defender office near courthouse

Chairman J. Brick introduced discussion about touring the DiMatteo & Roach law offices as a potential purchase site for the Public Defender’s offices and considered leasing space in the nearby Five Star Building. Budget Officer J. Cook reminded supervisors about prior criticism from the Comptroller’s office regarding past facility acquisitions.
The Finance Committee authorized going out to a Request for Proposal for approximately 4,000 square feet within walking distance of the courthouse for Public Defender offices. County Administrator S. Schrader agreed to draft the RFP; Supervisor Leuer moved the authorization and the motion carried.
