The Iron County Finance Committee on May 20 approved a wage-grade change to make the Child Support Specialist position more market-competitive and approved posting the vacancy.
Committee members settled on Grade 7 after discussing that the position had been excluded from a prior classification study and was graded too low, which members said hindered recruitment. Lutgen moved to approve Resolution 2026-4081 to set the wage grade to 7; Snyder seconded and the motion carried with an all-yes vote.
Teresa, the Child Support Director, told the committee the position has been vacant since July 2025 and is reimbursed 66% by the state. The committee subsequently approved Resolution 2026-4087 to advertise the position; Lauer moved and Hiller seconded, and the motion carried.
The committee did not record individual roll-call votes in the meeting minutes beyond the notation “all yes.” The next advertised posting date and application deadline were not specified in the minutes.
