Police Jury tables ordinance on sale of adjudicated properties after update on state law changes

Wesley Johnson of E & P Consulting Services, LLC updated the Lincoln Parish Police Jury on recent changes enacted by the Louisiana Legislature to adjudicated property procedures. Johnson reported that properties currently listed as adjudicated will follow the existing redemption process but that purchasers of new adjudicated properties going forward would receive a tax lien certificate under the revised law.
After discussion of the legal changes and what they would mean for local practice, Annette Straughter moved to table a proposed ordinance that would provide for the sale of adjudicated properties; T.J. Cranford seconded the motion and it carried with the nine jurors present voting yea. The minutes record the tabling pending receipt of additional information; no ordinance text or implementation schedule was recorded in the meeting minutes.
