The Kingsburg Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees on June 22 unanimously adopted the district’s 2026–27 budget, the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal addendum required to access federal funds.
Trustee Johnie Thomsen moved to approve the LCAP and budget items; the motion passed with all five trustees voting aye. Trustees also adopted Resolution R27‑2526 establishing the district’s Education Protection Account (EPA) entitlement. "Kingsburg Joint Union High School District 2026-2027 EPA Entitlement is $3,665,291.00," the board record states.
The board’s action also included approval of the 2026‑27 Local Performance Indicator Self‑Reflection, a state‑required self‑evaluation tool that districts use to report progress on state priorities and to inform LCAP goals. Superintendent Dr. Ryan Phelan noted staff focus on implementation for the coming school year during his report to the board.
Board members said the approvals position the district to move forward with staffing and program commitments tied to the LCAP and the adopted budget. The actions were recorded in agenda items M267–M270 and were taken by unanimous votes.
