Lancaster County joins regional elder-abuse multidisciplinary team via MOU

Lancaster County’s Behavioral Health and Developmental Services will participate in a regional Elder Abuse Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) under a memorandum of understanding the board approved June 17. The MOU, facilitated by Weill Cornell Medicine and coordinated with the Pennsylvania Department of Aging, joins Lehigh, Berks and Lancaster counties to discuss complex elder-abuse cases and produce action plans to help move older adults out of those situations.
The minutes record there is no cost to Lancaster County for participation and BHDS will not receive financial compensation. Commissioner Alice Yoder offered the motion and the board approved it unanimously, authorizing County Administrator Lawrence M. George to sign the MOU. The action positions the county to collaborate regionally on multi-disciplinary responses to elder-abuse cases.
