Planning & Building official Alex Kovach told council the city needs assistance completing the Climate Planning Element and the vulnerability and risk assessment portion of the Hazard Resiliency Element. Council moved to authorize the Mayor to sign a contract with Berk Consulting, Inc. to provide that work (m/s Kannely/Carlson); the motion carried.
Alex Kovach noted the assessment will inform where the city should add a hazard mitigation chapter or whether to adopt the Grant County Hazard Mitigation Plan. Katherine Kenison suggested the city may prefer its own plan in case county resources are unavailable during a city-specific emergency.
