The Horry County Zoning Board of Appeals on an October 2024 agenda approved a variance to allow a 2,000‑square‑foot community dock within Crescent Cove Phase 2B of The Hague Marina PDD on Marine Drive in Myrtle Beach.
Staff introduced the proposal and noted Section 9.18(d)(e) limits multiuse community docks to 1,000 square feet; staff recommended standard conditions should the board grant an exception. Applicant representative Mark Stouten of DRG described the project as a private‑cove amenity for a 395‑home Pulte neighborhood and emphasized that the dock would not intrude into the public travel way. "We have a kind of finger here that comes in ... and we're asking for a variance for 2,000 square foot dock," Stouten said.
No members of the public spoke in opposition. A board member moved to grant the variance based on the four required factors as described in the applicant's submittal; the motion carried on the board vote. The board asked staff to prepare the standard permit conditions tied to the variance.
