Local nonprofits report funding and service gains; Share the Care distributes nearly 5,900 items in March

Several community organizations reported program updates and near-term events at the commission meeting. Tiffanie Walker of Connections Napa Valley said the organization has documentation of 13 community centers that support its work and that the California Department of Aging identified $90,000 in funding for the next year; she said Connections has new resource guides, magnets and flyers available.
Devereaux Smith (Molly's Angels) announced the SAFE Conference on June 23 and said Molly's Angels will provide transportation from American Canyon; she also urged greater older-adult representation on the Transit Coordinating Council. Heather Luna of Share the Care reported March activity: 5,867 donated items distributed through the donation center and 414 total clients who visited the center in March, 76 of whom are veterans. Share the Care noted its Stop Falls grant ended and the program is shifting to fundraising to sustain services; a new balance program is starting the day after the meeting.
