County Clerk Bobbi L. Dreiling asked the Commission to authorize destruction of ballots that meet statutory retention periods and to appoint two overseers for the process. Dreiling said that "per KSA 252708(b) she is required to destroy ballots from primary or general elections after 22 months, and 6 months for General City/School elections," and that the ballots would be destroyed at the landfill by fire.
The Commission approved destruction of ballots from the 2024 Presidential Preference Primary, the 2024 Primary Election, and the 2025 General City/School Election, and appointed Eugene Rupp and Mike Weber to oversee the process. Commissioner Michael Berges moved for approval and Commissioner Nathan Leiker seconded; the motion passed by voice vote, 3–0.
