Treasurer outlines budget calendar, audit review and incoming tax receipts

Treasurer Jennifer Teget presented the board’s budget calendar and next steps at the June 3 meeting. "June 15 the ECLB receives a letter from the county with our numbers to finish the budget," Teget said, adding that trustees plan to finalize the budget in July, publish the required public notice and submit the budget by Oct. 1. Teget said she has meetings scheduled with the board’s attorney to review fees and the audit; the board discussed using agreed-upon procedures versus participating in the county’s audit, with an estimated cost of around $300 for agreed-upon procedures.
Teget said she added a bond for two positions to the draft budget and provided an immediate cost estimate. "Two positions bring a cost of approximately $600," the minutes record her saying, while noting the figure could increase later as funds allow. Chair Kylie Honas told trustees that after the May deadline for paying the second half of property taxes the board should receive another approximately $21,000, and the board will decide how to allocate that money at its July meeting.
The treasurer indicated recommendations on audit fee and legal fees will be available at the next meeting. No formal budget vote occurred on June 3; the items were presented as preparatory steps ahead of July’s finalization.
