Economic development director highlights business expansion, distillery distribution win and tourism push

Economic Development Director Stephanie Imthurn reported multiple small-business developments and outreach initiatives on June 8.
Imthurn said there is a new E-Community business in McFarland operated by Avery Trecek and that Flint Hills HVAC plans to expand by purchasing a building, buying equipment and increasing staff; she said she connected the business owner with Network Kansas, GrowKS, the Flint Hills Prosper microloan program and Innovate24 to support expansion. Imthurn also said Fifty-Two Aces Distillery in Paxico signed with a distributor after nearly a year of assistance that included help from Senator Dietrich. The county’s tourism marketing campaign has begun and will run heavily into the Kansas City area for the next three months; Imthurn said she will track return on investment and report back later in the year.
Imthurn additionally noted community engagement activities such as Ad Astra Boot Company’s open house in Alma and Newbury 4-H Club adopting the Guardian of the Plains monument for quarterly cleanups.
