Castle Pines welcomes Marcus Graves as new parks and recreation director

City Manager Michael Penny introduced Marcus Graves and told the advisory board that Graves had just started and would take over liaison duties next month. "So, Marcus has joined us. This is week 2 for him as our parks and rec director," Penny said during the meeting.
Graves said his career spans about 25 years in parks-and-recreation roles and emphasized community engagement as a priority. "My background, I've been in parks and recreation, oh, going on 25 years now," Graves said, adding that he looks forward to meeting board members individually and supporting ongoing projects.
Penny said the position was created in the 2025 budget and that Graves will pick up the board liaison role and other implementation work, including signage and trail-name rollouts. The board thanked outgoing staff liaison Michael Penny for his prior work and welcomed Graves; staff agreed to circulate Graves's contact information to the board.
