Cass County approves Health Department change order for inspection software

The Cass County Commission on July 8 approved Resolution 26-63, authorizing a change order with HS GovTech Solutions Incorporated to update the county's food program inspection configuration.
Matt Stafford, county staff, told commissioners the update is funded through a NEHA grant with the FDA and is designed to bring the software more in line with the national food code. "We currently have a grant through NEHA, with the FDA," Stafford said, explaining the funding source and purpose.
Staff described the practical change: inspectors will be required to check specific food-safety hazards (checked-in/checked-out or "not observed") before proceeding, reducing reliance on memorized codes. "They have to rely on what their memory has served them," Stafford said of prior practice, adding the software will be more user friendly.
The commission moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote: "3 votes for, 0 against." The action authorizes the county to proceed with the configuration work under the existing contract and grant funding.
The commission did not record a named mover or seconder in the transcript; the resolution passed unanimously and will be implemented by Health Department staff per the terms discussed in the meeting.
