Board approves new social-studies curriculum; staff to return with purchase list

Principal (S2) and other staff reviewed pricing options, explaining the curriculum is available as a one-year bundle (about $95 per student) or a six-year bundle (quoted at $110.36 per student in the packet). The principal noted flexibility in how subscriptions are purchased and said districts can add student licenses in later years if enrollment changes. "You can choose... the 6 year bundle... it's only 15 more dollars," the principal said when describing the six-year option versus a one-year purchase.
Board discussion also covered teacher editions and consumable student journals, with staff explaining that teacher editions are a one-time purchase while some materials are consumable and would need replacement over time. Board member (S5) moved and the principal (S2) seconded the motion; the board approved the curriculum by voice vote. The board requested that at the March meeting staff bring a grade-by-grade list of the exact items to be purchased and the total estimated cost so the board can finalize budget decisions.
