Commissioners certify Cherokee County primary after provisional ballot rulings

On Aug. 13, 2024, the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners certified the abstract of the primary election after resolving 115 provisional ballots, County Clerk Rebecca Brassart told the board.
Brassart presented the board with 115 provisional ballots and reported recommended dispositions: 88 accepted to be counted in full, one accepted partially and 26 rejected. Commissioner Cory Moates moved to "accept 88 in full, accept 1 partially, and reject the 26 ballots." Commissioner Myra Frazier seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously with Commissioners Cory Moates, Lorie Johnson and Myra Frazier voting yes.
After the provisional ballots were counted by the election board of canvass and added to the unofficial primary totals, Commissioner Moates moved to certify the abstract of the election. Commissioner Lorie Johnson seconded; that motion also passed unanimously. The board then adjourned.
The attestation in the minutes records the certification and is dated the 19th day of August 2024.
