Wabaunsee County Fair Association requests $40,000 operating allocation for 2027

Representatives of the Wabaunsee County Fair Association updated the Board June 15 on grounds improvements completed since 2020—an electrical expansion in the beef pavilion, upgraded exhibition and judging spaces, new arena turf, a new west door, and improved lighting in two buildings—and requested a 2027 operating allocation of $40,000.
Mary Reed Spencer said the Association now solicits private donations for capital improvements and that the requested county allocation is intended to support operating expenses rather than grounds projects. The Board heard the request but made no immediate appropriation at the June 15 meeting.
