Town Manager Brian Reznicki introduced the Art of Public Places program at the workshop, asking the council for initial direction on a call for artists and potential themes to tie new murals to town rebranding.
"The first thing we're going to talk about is the Art of Public Places program," Reznicki said, explaining staff will seek proposals and consider a mural on the North 3rd Street wall once construction is complete. Council members suggested tying a mural to a library theme to help signal that a nearby parking lot is town-owned and intended for library patrons.
Staff also described plans to inventory utility boxes along major corridors and photograph them to determine ownership and jurisdiction before seeking permission to wrap them in artwork. Reznicki stressed the need for agreements with utilities before any wrapping takes place. Council directed staff to consider unified color palettes and themes and to return with implementation details and draft agreements.
