Superintendent warns of enrollment-driven budget decline, OPI preliminary numbers due March 1
Summary
Superintendent Dan Grabowska told trustees the district could lose about $100,000 from the general fund next year due to falling enrollment and possibly $150,000–$175,000 the following year; preliminary Office of Public Instruction budget information is expected March 1, 2026.

Superintendent Dan Grabowska told the Roberts School District board that declining enrollment is likely to reduce the district’s General Fund by approximately $100,000 in the next fiscal year and by $150,000–$175,000 the following year if current enrollment trends continue.
"With the drop in number of students, we will probably see a decrease in the General Fund of around $100,000 next year. The following year will see a decrease of $150,000 to $175,000 if enrollment keeps dropping," Grabowska said, and he reminded trustees that preliminary budget information from the Office of Public Instruction is scheduled for release on March 1, 2026. He also reported the proposed statewide health insurance program met both requirements to begin, and the district will continue with its present carrier so long as rates remain comparable.
Grabowska added that there are nearly 10 students taking dual-credit courses and that new CTE offerings include a criminology class taught in conjunction with MTDA by Finnian McConnaghy. He said activities, notably basketball, are going well.
The board accepted the superintendent’s report for information; budget planning and the OPI figures will guide upcoming discussions about the district’s preliminary budget.
