Roberts School Board unanimously renews superintendent contract, approves consent agenda

The Roberts School District No. 5 Board of Trustees unanimously approved a one-year extension of Superintendent Dan Grabowska’s contract and accepted multiple consent-agenda items at its Jan. 21, 2026 meeting in the Roberts School library.

After returning from an executive session held for the superintendent’s evaluation, the board voted to “renew Dan Grabowska’s superintendent contract for another year with an increase in salary to $105,000 and a decrease in contract days to 205,” a motion made by Trustee Joel Bertolino and seconded by Trustee Brad Norman. The motion passed with all five trustees voting yes: Dobbel, Norman, Bertolino, Bissonnette and Hill.

Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda — a motion by Trustee Brad Norman, seconded by Trustee Joel Bertolino — which included warrants 51704–51761, direct deposit 239, activity checks 9407–9411, approval of the Dec. 17, 2025 minutes, and several personnel matters. The board accepted resignations from Melissa Bertolino (head high school volleyball coach), Theresa Kosel (assistant high school volleyball coach), Jackson Hill (custodian) and Jerry Bellmyer (PE teacher). The board also approved out-of-district attendance agreements. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.

Chair Nick Dobbel opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned it at 7:20 p.m. The executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation began at 6:45 p.m. and the board returned to open session at 7:16 p.m., citing the individual’s right to privacy as the basis for the closed deliberation.
