County engineer reports road projects; bridge design agreement to be signed when received

County Engineer Ryne Thornburg updated the board on several secondary roads items: the Eagle Drive regrade was expected to be finished that day, the Douds motor grader has been delivered to Altorfer for repair, and the roads crew returned to a five-day, eight-hour schedule. Thornburg said the next regrade project had not yet been determined and reminded the board that a Dust Pods demonstration was scheduled for Sept. 24.
Separately, County Conservation Director Richard Daugherty told the board that he will have Chairman Mark Meek sign the engineering design agreement for the Historic Bentonsport Bridge rehabilitation project once that agreement is received from the engineering firm Kirkham and Michael. The board also approved the appointment of Wyatt Aplara of Fairfield as a full-time equipment operator for the secondary roads department, effective Oct. 6, 2025, at $24.92 per hour.
