Van Buren County proclaims October 2025 Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Ally, representing the Domestic Violence and Rape Victim Advocate Programs (DVIP/RVAP), updated the board about local services and requested the board proclaim October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
On motion by Supervisor House, seconded by Supervisor Waugh, the board approved the proclamation recognizing DVIP/RVAP's local work and noting that the programs have provided crisis services for more than 46 years. The proclamation notes the prevalence and impacts of domestic violence and urges community coordination to support victims and prevent future violence. The roll call vote was recorded as Meek Aye, Waugh Aye, House Aye.
The proclamation was signed on Oct. 13, 2025, in Keosauqua and will be part of county records and outreach materials to promote awareness during October.
