Mayor and vice mayor report joining Florida League committees, aim to advance municipal bills

Council members reported back from the Florida League of Cities annual conference. Vice Mayor Mason said he and the mayor joined a committee that will meet monthly through December to propose bills and advocate for municipal priorities.
“We will be attending 3 separate meetings once a month up until December. And, at those meetings, we will come up with new concepts of bills that we would like the State to put forth,” Mason said. Mayor Lithgow added she was appointed to the Florida League of Mayors Board of Directors and will continue to serve on a legislative policy committee focusing on development and code enforcement matters.
Council said the League’s networking and bill-tracking helps the town anticipate state-level issues that could affect local government operations and home-rule authority.
