"We're placing approximately 20,000 cubic yards of sand in what we call Reach 8," Strayer said, adding the project will also replace about 10,000 cubic yards at South Palm Beach. She described a single mobilization and demobilization, a conveyor to transfer sand from a condo loading area (the Atriums), and low‑tide work windows to protect turtle nests.
Strayer told the council crews will bring in mainly bulldozers and dump trucks—"approximately 10 or less pieces of equipment"—and will drive on the beach during low tide to build dunes. She said the town has secured permits and will avoid turtle nest areas. In response to a resident question about access, Strayer confirmed the sand is stockpiled at Phipps Ocean Park and will be moved via dump trucks to the conveyor at the Atriums.
Council members raised scheduling and resident-impact concerns; Strayer said residents would likely see the operation twice—once for equipment drive-up and once for the drive-back—and that the contractor expects to be off the beach before Christmas. The council did not take a vote; the presentation served as an informational briefing. The project is permitted and staff advised residents to call the listed project contacts with questions.
