The Town of Lantana on Sept. 8 proclaimed September 2025 as Library Card Sign-up Month and honored Lantana Elementary School for partnering to get students signed up.
Library staff and school partners described library services and a surge in usage. A library representative said, “we had 1,740 library card sign ups this year so far,” and reported a 58% increase in summer program attendance and a 58% increase in ebook checkouts compared with last year. The library announced incentives for new sign-ups during September, including mugs, tote bags and a grand-prize drawing sponsored by the Lantana Library Foundation; the library will also waive replacement card fees or penalties for patrons who bring canned goods to be donated to a local food bank.
Councilors praised the partnership with the school and framed the library as an important community resource for literacy, job support and digital access.
