Mayor Karen Lithgow proclaimed September 2025 as National Hunger Month and invited a Feeding South Florida volunteer to accept the recognition and outline the organization's local work.
A Feeding South Florida volunteer introduced herself as a local volunteer leader and thanked the town: “My name is Michelle homeless and I'm a volunteer leader with Feeding South Bridal. On behalf of our team, I want to thank the town of Lantana for recognizing September as Hunger Action Month.” She said the organization serves approximately 1,200,000 individuals annually and that Lantana households made over 3,700 visits to the network of direct programs and partner agencies in the most recent fiscal year. She described programs including home-delivered meals, school pantry programs and workforce training that support long-term stability.
Council members thanked the organization and noted local partnerships that help residents access SNAP and other benefits; no formal action was required beyond the proclamation.
