Council ratifies $59,887 emergency sewer repair; larger replacement planned

The Lantana Town Council on Sept. 8 ratified a $59,887 emergency expenditure to repair a compromised sewer/storm line at West Lantana Road and North 4th Street that impacted the county drainage system and discharged toward the Intracoastal.
Public works staff said the repair addressed an imminent emergency and avoided spending roughly $90,000 to rebuild a line that will be replaced under an upcoming capital project. “This is relative to the emergency sewer repair we had at the intersection of North 4th and West Lantana… I'm here tonight to ask for your support in ratifying an amount of $59,887,” staff said. Councilors approved ratification 5–0 and staff said they will return with a plan and timeline for a larger replacement as part of the master plan work.
Staff noted the line supports about 80% of sewage created in the municipality and that construction of a replacement line under the master plan could take 16–18 months from the consultant selection through build-out.
