Lantana council fills planning commission seats, reappoints Rosemary Moring

The Lantana Town Council on Sept. 8 reappointed Rosemary Moring to a regular seat on the Planning Commission and appointed Anne Marie Joyce as a regular member and Christine Desotel as an alternate.

Town Clerk Kathleen Dominguez told council staff had advertised two vacancies and received multiple applications. Rosemary Moring, who spoke in favor of continuing on the commission, said, “When I was first approached to be on the Planning Commission, I was a little scared. But over the last, I don’t know, years, I have learned more about the town by being on the planning commission.” The council moved quickly to reappoint her; the motion carried by voice vote.

Council members discussed experience and attendance as factors when choosing between applicants who sought promotion from alternate roles and new applicants. Anne Marie Joyce said she appreciated her two years serving as an alternate and pledged continued community service: “I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation for the opportunity to serve on the planning commission as an alternate during the last two years. I have learned much.” The council approved Joyce and then appointed Christine Desotel as the alternate; both motions passed unanimously.

The council also discussed that the code establishes five regular members and up to two alternates and noted the option to examine whether to increase alternates in future workshops. Appointees will serve terms ending in September 2028 unless otherwise noted.
