Splash-pad parking lot repairs expected; French drain installed to address leaks

A staff member described finding a separated clay tile drain and installing an "extensive French drain," saying, "We had a leak on the drain line, so we we got that corrected... we've put in an extensive French drain" and that broken spray heads under the concrete slab were shut off. Staff said the soil under the parking-area subgrade was poor black dirt; crews hauled base rock to stabilize the area and staff anticipated a budget amendment to finish the parking lot.
The board discussed coordination of valves and shutoffs and staff said the repairs avoid tearing up the slab and limit work mostly to above-ground valving scheduled for replacement next year. The city will notify adjacent property owners and post updates to social media about lane closures and progress.
