Supervisor Kent reported from an emergency-management meeting held Aug. 2 in Climbing Hill with local leaders, including Mayor Bob Scott and others. He said attendees discussed potentially increasing funds to prepare for a disaster and expressed concern about whether FEMA would provide assistance.
Kent said the group ran an active-shooter drill at a local Christian school and planned to purchase 12 new laptops for command vehicles while holding off on a satellite-phone purchase for now. "They're looking at 12 new laptops for some of their command vehicles, and they're holding off on the satellite phone purchase at this time," Kent told the board.
