Resident praises new Hummel Field terminal, urges cost controls

At the start of the meeting Russell "Russ" Perkinson of Topping addressed the Board during public comment to praise the County’s work on the new Hummel Field Airport terminal while also questioning its long-term efficiency and utility. Perkinson said he believed the terminal may be larger than necessary for the airport’s current usage, warned that maintaining the facility ultimately falls on taxpayers, and urged the County to minimize costs and increase revenues. He also said he was surprised by a decrease in the personal property tax rate for airplanes.

Board members later noted attendance at the terminal's grand opening; Chairman Don R. Harris and other supervisors said they attended the event. The comment was recorded without further public response at the meeting; no action was taken in response to the public comment during the session.
