Zion National Park Discovery Center construction 'well on schedule,' organizer says

Debbie Lyon, representing the Zion National Park Forever Project, presented an update to the Kane County Redevelopment Agency on May 26 showing renderings, updated site photos and a six-phase timeline for landscaping and interpretive elements at the Zion National Park Discovery Center.
Lyon said building construction has proceeded from a 2024 groundbreaking to a point where "the building's fully dried in" and site landscaping and pathways are in progress. She told the board the project team is coordinating interpretive design work and stakeholder engagement and thanked UDOT and county partners for completed pieces, including a roundabout and multi-use trails that will connect the center to nearby campgrounds and future visitor facilities.
On the schedule, Lyon said, "We're well on schedule for ribbon cutting in spring of 20 27," and added that stakeholders including the state legislature and the governor will be invited to events when appropriate. She outlined plans for oversized parking and transit planning as later phases of the site work, and said Zion Forever is pursuing industry funding and partnerships to support those components.
Board members asked follow-up questions about the location and phasing of oversized parking and about coordination with UDOT; Lyon identified oversized parking as a second-phase element at the back of the campus and said the team will pursue funding and design work in the coming months.
