Sedgwick County has approved a $700,000 base bid from Conco Incorporated to remove and replace both the west and east red‑brick toilet and shower facilities at Lake Hampton Park.
Project Services presented the recommendation for a base bid of $350,000 per building and said the county will stay with the base bid to remain within budget. A board member asked whether showers were included because the bid breakdown showed toilet items; Sandy Angelo of Project Services clarified the base bid includes showers and toilet partitions as described. "You walk into the building, you have your restrooms on the right, your showers on the left," Angelo said, noting alternates were available but not being accepted to keep the price within the base bid.
Staff noted the current facilities were constructed in 1981 and that the replacement will be similar in form with some enhancements rather than an extensive upgrade. The motion to accept the base bid was moved, seconded and approved by unanimous voice vote.
