Purchasing read the engineer's estimate of $411,471 and recommended acceptance of the low bid. The project (Sedgwick County project B547) covers the deck overlay on the bridge over the South Fork and serves a corridor commonly referred to as M and M Road, which carries a high percentage of heavy traffic.
Lynn Packer of Public Works said the pre‑construction meeting has not yet occurred; the contractor can begin between now and shortly after the start of 2025. Packer said the team expects the work to be completed within a roughly 30 working‑day window and emphasized the desire to complete work before winter conditions threaten asphalt patches. The motion to accept the bid was moved, seconded and approved unanimously by voice vote.
