The Board of Bids and Contracts on Nov. 11 approved a purchase of a full‑spectrum imaging system for the sheriff’s forensic laboratory, accepting a quote from Arrowhead Forensics for $80,208.98. Lee Barrier, speaking on behalf of the sheriff’s office, presented the request and recommended the board accept the vendor’s quote: “accept a quote from Arrowhead forensics in the amount of $80,208.98.”
Barrier said the FSIS (full‑spectrum imaging system) is an advanced forensic imaging tool used to detect latent fingerprints and document evidence with high‑resolution images that aid identification and prosecution. Keith Allen of the sheriff’s office said the current unit has been in service for about eight to 10 years and the newer system is an updated version; the older unit would be kept as a backup. The board asked for a life‑expectancy estimate during discussion before the vote.
Board members moved and seconded a motion to accept the quote; roll call recorded affirmative votes from Brandy Bailey, Anna Meyer Von Cole and Tim Kaufman. The chair recused from the matter, citing employment with the sheriff’s office, and did not participate in the vote. With the recorded ayes the motion passed and the purchase was authorized.
