At the March 18 work session, the Vernonia School District 47J board reviewed and agreed to a hiring timeline and multi-stage screening process proposed by consultant Rob Hess of Grundmeyer Leader Services. The board approved an application window (March 5–April 12), a candidate review in executive session on April 15, 25-minute Zoom screening interviews for semi-finalists on April 18, and finalist interviews on May 1.
Hess said GLS will prescreen applicants and place them in three categories—green (most qualified), yellow (qualified), and red (not qualified)—and will provide reference summaries, state licensure checks, and social-media reports for finalists in executive session before finalist interviews. The board noted that weekly updates will be provided as applications come in and that the board will see every candidate who applies.
