King County commissioners voted to accept a $200,000 grant from the Department of Outdoor Recreation to construct a 3-D archery course at the existing shooting range and authorized the chair to sign the contract contingent on attorney review. Taylor, the county's public-lands/government-affairs director, said the project will reuse the south rifle range area for target archery, add trail segments, and improve parking and security features.
"We put in for the grant and received it... to the tune of $200,000 to complete that project," Taylor said while describing project scope and match arrangements. Taylor said the recreation and transportation special service district will provide about $50,000 toward the match, and that the county may receive 75% of the funding up front depending on contract terms. The commission approved a motion to accept the grant and authorized the chair to sign the contract provided the county attorney raises no substantive contractual issues.
Staff said the grant is likely a reimbursement-style agreement and that the county will bring the final contract to the commission or allow the chair to sign after attorney review, per the motion.
