Board continues city‑initiated zoning map amendment to May 6 to prepare concurrent text amendment

The board opened a city‑initiated public hearing on a zoning map amendment to rezone multiple parcels from single‑family/two‑family to neighborhood commercial and heard a staff presentation on the outreach and linkage to a planned text amendment. Principal Planner Lauren Prost explained that staff needs an extra month to finalize clarifying language and to add places of worship to allowable uses in the proposed neighborhood‑commercial district. Staff asked the board to continue the advertised hearing to May 6 at 6 p.m., and the board voted in favor of the continuance.

"As part of that outreach and city‑initiated comprehensive text amendment, this rezoning came out of that," Prost said, and staff asked for a continuance so the text amendment can be prepared and considered concurrently. The continuance preserves the advertised hearing timeline and allows staff to return with the proposed text changes for full public review.
