Supervisor reports Town Hall ran out of propane; complaint filed with state

Supervisor David Gunster reported that on Monday, Feb. 9 the Town Hall ran out of propane during subzero temperatures. Gunster said the Town was on Ferrell Gas’s autofill schedule but had been taken off the delivery list; after follow-up calls the vendor delivered roughly 1,600 gallons around 11:30 a.m. the next day. Gunster said he filed a complaint with the New York Office of General Services and noted the vendor is required under the State contract to provide fuel within four hours in an emergency.
The Town used portable heaters while the building was without heat and expects higher electric bills for those days. The Board said it obtained an emergency contact for the vendor and is now monitoring tank levels more closely to prevent another outage.
