County adopts midyear budget adjustment to accept unanticipated tourism and recreation grants

The King County Commission voted to adopt resolution R2026-11 on May 26, 2026, to open the 2026 budget and accommodate several grants and carryover spending that were not in the original budget. Clerk/Auditor Jamille Lamb said the awards included a $52,400 state grant for a tourism business-development workshop and a $100,000 sponsorship for the PRCA rodeo.
"So basically, they were able to get a grant from the state of Utah to fund, a tourism business development workshop here in Kanao," Jamille Lamb said during the public hearing on budget adjustments. Lamb told commissioners the county also must add funds to account for a $31,500 OHV/RE grant that carries a 25% match (about $10,500 from the tourism fund balance) plus some 2025 carryover spending to be spent in 2026.
Commissioners closed the public hearing with no public opposition recorded and approved the resolution by voice vote. The action allows county staff to complete formal budget openings so the county can accept and expend the newly awarded funds.
