Associate Superintendent David Flores told trustees the Love the Pack Boosters have not yet received federal approval for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and therefore cannot secure a liquor license; the boosters have since partnered with the Shasta High School Sports Booster Club to provide alcohol at the event.
Trustee Joe Ayer raised concerns about how long it can take to obtain 501(c)(3) status. The board previously approved the fundraiser at a June 16 special meeting; Flores reported the updated arrangement to ensure required licensing and compliance are in place before the event.
