Council sets FY2026–27 budget work-session dates for January–March

The Tonkawa City Council approved dates for FY2026–27 budget work sessions to provide more time for department-level review. The council set Friday, Jan. 23, 2026; Friday, Feb. 20, 2026; and Tuesday, March 31, 2026 as work-session dates. Councilman Charles Conaghan moved to adopt the dates and Councilman Kenneth Smith seconded; the motion passed.
City Manager Nicholas Payne told council that having smaller work sessions with a few departments at a time would give councilors more time and better understanding ahead of the April budget hearings. The approved schedule will be used to plan department presentations and public notice of budget hearings.
