The Westfir City Council reviewed the draft 2025 Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) Implementation Plan at a special meeting on Jan. 21, 2026. City Recorder Nicole Tritten told the council that benchmarks in the plan had been completed or maintained in 2025 and outlined remaining tasks and deadlines: "the Temperature TMDL must be updated by November 9, 2026, and a streamside evaluation completed by May 9, 2028," she said.
Tritten told the council that staff and the Council need to find grants to assist community members with maintaining septic systems, and members discussed doing a survey of residents with septic tanks to learn the status of those systems and gauge community need. The council opened the agenda item for public comment and received none.
