Council awards $9,910 contract for City Hall repairs

The council on Dec. 1 approved a bid from Stan Clark Construction for $9,910 to repair City Hall, including replacing fascia boards, installing new gutters and replacing rotted siding in the building's rear. Mayor Richard Watson said a second contractor did not respond to a request for a revised bid; Councilor Deretta Huey moved to approve the Stan Clark bid, Councilor Dylan Cheatham seconded, and the motion carried 4–0.
Council members approved using funds from the City Hall Building Fund to pay for the repairs. Recorder Nicole Tritten told the council the city has had difficulty obtaining contractor bids for building work; the council did not add conditions beyond the scope in the approved bid.
