Westfir warns residents as atmospheric river threatens 1st/2nd Street Loop

Mayor Richard Watson told the City Council at a Dec. 17 special meeting that an approaching atmospheric river could produce flooding on the 1st/2nd Street Loop, a location prone to stormwater accumulation. "Lane County had provided sandbags, and he was trying to arrange delivery of sand to City Hall," the minutes state.
City Recorder Nicole Tritten told the council that arranging delivery and handling of sand and sandbags would cost the city about $500. The notice came near the start of the special meeting; the council recessed to an executive session at 6:07 p.m. and later reconvened, taking several personnel-related votes after the closed session.
