Westfir approves Portal Park use for Middle Fork Open Disc Golf Tournament, awards $1,250 grant

The Westfir City Council approved a Portal Park rental application and an RTMP grant to support the Middle Fork Open Disc Golf Tournament, scheduled May 8–10, 2026. Jason Nehmer of the Oakridge Disc Golf Club, present via video, described the event as in its sixth year and said "the event includes camping on the mill site." Councilor Deretta Huey made the motion to approve the rental and later moved to award a $1,250 RTMP grant; both motions carried unanimously with Councilors Watson, Huey, Love and Mouracade voting aye.
City Recorder Nicole Tritten told the Council there was $4,500 remaining in the Events and Sponsorships budget line, which informed the Council's decision to partially fund the club's $2,500 request. The approvals formalize park use and partial event support; organizers will proceed with event planning under the terms of the Portal Park rental and awarded grant.
