Recorder forwards smoke-free park materials; council hears about cleanup and stewardship days

City Recorder Nicole Tritten told the council on Oct. 22 that she forwarded documents from Michael Quiring of Lane County Public Health outlining the benefits of a smoke-free park as the council considers smoke-free status for Confluence Park.
Tritten also reported that the Community Cleanup ran Sept. 24–Oct. 8 and that Westfir Community Stewardship volunteer days at Confluence Park—organized by the Middle Fork Willamette Watershed Council—occurred Oct. 18 and are scheduled for Nov. 1; the stewardship work includes removing invasive species and planting native species. No council action on smoke-free status was recorded at the special meeting.
