Shasta Union High School District board approves agenda, completes governance training

At a Sept. 6 special meeting, the Shasta Union High School District Board approved its agenda and completed a governance training led by Dr. Ron Carruth, identifying district strengths and areas for growth and receiving a handout from absent Trustee Ron Zufall.
The Shasta Union High School District Governing Board approved the meeting agenda and then participated in a governance training on Sept. 6, 2025. The agenda approval was recorded as a formal motion (RES. 25-194): "That the Board approve the agenda, as presented." The motion was moved by Trustee Mike Bridges, seconded by Trustee Luke Wilson and carried 4-0.
Following the procedural items, the Board and Superintendent Owen Crosby engaged in a governance training facilitated by Educational Leadership Services representative Dr. Ron Carruth. Trustees ran an appreciative inquiry exercise and listed what they are most proud of in the district — facilities, sense of community, performing arts, fiscal responsibility, education, staff, leadership and athletics — and identified areas for growth including administrator community involvement, feeder-school outreach, parent orientations and broader publicity for educational programs. Superintendent Crosby also provided a handout from Trustee Ron Zufall, who could not attend the meeting.
